Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. People unfamiliar with the term often think that it's an island that's in the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently referenced, however her brief stay did not last long. Brugel was raised on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. Her initial ambition was to pursue a career as an actress However, following a dramatic increase in size, her friends weren't able to dance along with her. She admitted in an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her to go in this direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to pursue a role for the annual school production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. One of the most memorable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
